Who am I

Mahi Pilates Trainer

MAHI TAVABEGHAVAMI

Chief

My name is Mahi Tavabeghavami. After graduating in Political Science in Tehran, I discovered my passion for Pilates and became an instructor over 15 years ago. I moved to Dubai where I earned the title of International Stott Pilates Instructor. Later, I moved to Italy and graduated in Sports Science from the University of Parma in 2019.

As an instructor, I have worked with a diverse range of individuals, including those with neurological diseases. This experience inspired me to increase my knowledge in neurology and specialize in Pilates for neurological patients. In 2020, I completed advanced training at the NEURO STUDIO in the USA, earning a membership with co-founder Meghann Koppele Duffy, which distinguishes me as the only teacher with this recognition.

Currently, I work at the Centro San Girolamo riabilitazione center in Parma and collaborate with international organizations. I also offer consulting services throughout various European countries.

FAQ

FAQ

  • What Is Pilates?
Pilates is a system of repetitive exercises performed on a yoga mat or specialized equipment designed to improve strength, stability, and flexibility. These exercises focus on developing the body through muscular effort from the core, and cultivating awareness of the body to support efficient and graceful movement in everyday life. Originally developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s, the Pilates Method has gained popularity among dancers and a wide audience for its benefits. Advocates of Pilates emphasize its core-strengthening benefits, which can improve posture and balance. The technique targets the "powerhouse" muscles, such as the glutes, hips, pelvic floor, and lower back, and encourages deep, conscious breathing similar to yoga. Beyond rehabilitation settings, Pilates is also beneficial for fitness enthusiasts and elite athletes. It is a versatile practice that can help individuals of all ages and abilities achieve their goals, from rehabilitation to peak performance.
  • What is Neuropilates?
The goal of Neuropilates is to promote active mobility, improve brain, and body connections. By targeting the cerebrum, eye positions, and proprioception, Neuropilates aims to help individuals achieve greater control over their movements. This approach allows for individuality and emphasizes building fundamental human movement patterns while improving joint position and reflex stability. Through Neuropilates, we can learn that the brain and mind are unique for each person, and the practice is tailored to suit individual needs.
  • What’s the difference between Pilates and Neuropilates?
The NeuroPilates movements may resemble those of a regular mat Pilates or reformer class. However, this practice includes specific neurological exercises, such as eye positions and proprioception, to target the cerebellum. In NeuroPilates, we use techniques such as touch and visualization to improve joint position and promote "safe" movement. By incorporating these techniques, individuals can develop greater body awareness and control over their movements, leading to improved mobility and overall physical health.
